"Here, only the right guests meet."
(as Carl Jung once said to Herman Hesse)
By visiting this site, you are in the loop.

My goal here is to provide you with free online resources to feed your creativity. Enjoy
Here on the home page, you will find some general links and ideas.

Really great math and music application:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/02/auto-composing-piano/
Yes, this is an electronic keyboard that composes music based on your input.
Remember the jazz robot and the robotic drummers that can improvise.
All we need now is the robots that sell grilled cheeze in the parking lot.

Check out www.SweetSearch.com.
This is a search engine for students. A committee reviews all of the search results for validity.

Free University Courses
Quite a few places are starting this movement. Explore and learn:
Sign up for a course, build a search engine, and more at www.udacity.com
Also look up "Stanford Open Courseware"
Here's another one: www.openculture.com/freeonlinecourses
MIT open courseware started this trend a while ago. Now, MIT and Harvard are working together on this.
Also look up the "Open Courseware Consortium"
The resources are out there for you.

www.moodle.org
This is another link I want to mention, because soon I may be using it for school assignments.

Other cool things:

Check out www.openhatch.org. This is an "open source involvement engine," to help you get involved in creative projects.

Check out www.KickStarter.com. This website helps to launch new ventures and provides news of new ventures.

Other interesting stuff:
The Oregon legislature a while ago "Rick Rolled" everyone.
They gave everyone a part of the lyrics from that Rick Astley song to work into speeches (and make it relevant).
Of course this is all recorded for public record.
Someone edited it all and posted the video on Youtube.
Maybe we'll see the federal government singing a "Free Credit Report .com" jingle.

The military recently successfully tested a robot jet that took off, flew a while, and landed without a pilot or remote control.
Are you singing "Who made who" by AC/DC yet?

When I recently searched for "algorithms for making music," I found Shimon the jazz robot.
Learn more about this invention, and let me know if it seems scary to you too.

How about that robot contestant on Jeopardy!?

As humans, we should go see some jam bands and be creative.
(Jam bands are on the "Music" page and creative inspiration is on the rest of this site.)

Speaking of things that only humans can do... In August (on 8-9-10) I heard that someone wrote a 100-page proof that P != NP
but I thougt of a proof two years ago.
here it is: P is not NP paper
I'm essentially saying that only humans can see "the big picture."
If you need immediate proof that "Polynomial" type problems are not the same as "Non-deterministic Polynomial" type problems, here it is:
This is an eaxpmle of smohtnig that only hmunas can raed, a non-detremnistic stiuaiton. The fact that you can raed tihs imemidiatley and a cmomptuter can't shows that this is a diffreent siutaiton. If you need more proof after the paper, I'll start talking Navajo.

The Phiadelphia Eagles (at Lincoln Financial Field in Philly) will have the first stadium to go off the grid.
With wind turbines and solar panels, they will generate all of their own electricity.
Many people can follow their example.
(but don't get so rowdy at your house that you need a courtroom)

Oxford University researchers just figured out how to stimulate math abilities - by shocking people.
It's true; electrical current to the brain improved math abilities for six months.
What do you think about that?
(By the way, I will not shock my students.)

The math page has some more interesting links, as I add more calculators to it.

Here's an idea to chew on...
Tech people should partner with farmers. This is a natural complementary relationship.
The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation should partner with Farm Aid to help American farmers.

The best bumper sticker I've seen lately:
"Republicans for Voldemort"

I'll add www.Engadget.com and www.G4.com and Cnet.com to the news page soon. These sites have some good tech news, updated very often.

I already have a Popular Science link on the "electronics" page. Remember that they made their entire archives available online for free.

Check back soon.

Ed's "Good People" Philosophy

With all of the "us and them" thinking in the world, we need some perspective.
The one important question is: Are you good people or not?
It's as simple as that.
I'm on the side of the good people.
